HOSA Awards 2018
ATEC STUDENTS winning honors medals at the HOSA conference are Laurel Taylor, Casey Blair, Katelin Byrum, Karina Nolasco, Kylan Corbett, Christine Stuhn and Cindy Ramos-Perez.
Seven Applied Technology Education Campus (ATEC) students brought home honors medals after competing at the state Health Occupations Students of America (HOSA) Leadership Conference in Charleston, March 7-9.
Kylan Corbett took first place in job seeking skills competition at the conference, which is attended by high school and college students from throughout the state taking health occupation-related courses.
Also winning medals at the conference were Karina Nolasco, Christine Stuhn and Cindy Ramos-Perez for second place in public service announcement. Laurel Taylor, Casey Blair and Katelin Byrum took third place in public service announcement.
All the medal winners will advance to the national HOSA competition in Dallas this summer.
Top five finishers from ATEC included Lexes Matthews and Jessica Alvey in CPR, Edwin Gonzalez in dental terminology and Iris Kaputa and Morgan Foss in health education awareness.
In addition, Kaputa was chosen to sing the Star Spangled Banner at the conference’s opening session and banquet after previously submitting to the conference organizers an audition in open competition.
