Robbins Bitmoji Rain GRADUATION CEREMONIES TO UTILIZE RAIN DATES: As much as we hate to initiate the use of our rain dates, it appears the weather is not going to cooperate. Our students deserve a graduation ceremony with clear skies where the focus is on them and not the potential for rain!

NCHS- Sunday, 7:30 p.m.
LEHS- Monday, 7:30 p.m.
CHS- Tuesday, 7:30 p.m.

KCSD RE-OPENING TASK FORCE: There is a tremendous amount of work that needs to occur for us to be fully prepared for all scenarios both this summer and to start the school year. The South Carolina “AccelerateEd” Task Force provides us with guidelines; however, it is up to each locality to determine what in those guidelines works best for their community so we will be putting our own re-opening task force together. The task force will be composed of board members, administrators, teachers, parents, and community members. There will be seven subcommittees bringing recommendations forward for consideration, and they will represent the main components of our school operations. We cannot work in silos, and this ALL needs to occur with specific and measurable outcomes identified to ensure the greatest level of success. Working in this manner will encourage unified messaging in and for our community. I have shared this once before, but here is a link to the state's recommendations for Summer Learning & Operations: AccelerateED Task Force - Summer Learning and Operations Recommendations

SOUTH CAROLINA HIGH SCHOOL LEAGUE: In a memorandum released by the league, it states; “SCHSL member schools may begin limited summer activities when their district/school permits academic group activities on campus.” The decision for KCSD will be based on our Task Forces recommendations.

SUMMER FEEDING PROGRAM BEGINS JUNE 1ST: The first meal pickup for the summer feeding program will be June 4th. We will not be using bus routes, but will have meals available at three regionally located pickup sites. However, we will evaluate the program and may adjust this to ensure we are getting meals to the greatest number of children possible. Here are some specific guidelines and points for the program:

  • Pre-order meals weekly by Monday at 7 p.m. This can be done at this link: www.kcsdschools.net/mealsignup
  • Pre-ordered meals may be picked up on Thursdays from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.
  • Pickup sites: Blaney Elementary School, Camden High School, and North Central Middle School
