Statement from KC School Board Chairman Smith concerning the search for a new superintendent

April 20, 2022

From the School BoardAt the conclusion of its April 19 school board meeting, Kershaw County School Board Chairman Dr. James P. Smith issued the following statement:

Tonight, at the Special Called meeting, the Kershaw County School District (District) Board of Trustees (Board) met to discuss the search process that will be utilized as it begins its search for a permanent superintendent to replace Dr. Shane Robbins, who has accepted a job in another South Carolina school district and will leave this District in June 2022. While we have discussed several options used by school districts to hire a superintendent, we hope to announce the direction we intend to take in the very near future. Based on our discussion, we want everyone to know that all Board members are committed to taking the necessary steps to ensure that we are able to identify and employ an outstanding educator who is well-qualified and dedicated to our District and committed to leading this system for years to come.

We will keep the public apprised of our decision and appreciate your patience as we undertake the single most important task that will be facing us as a Board.
