Robbins receives "exceeds expectations" evaluation for 2020-21 school year

Dr. Shane RobbinsKershaw County School District Superintendent Shane Robbins received an “exceeds expectations” evaluation and a two-year extension on his contract through June of 2025 from the Kershaw County School Board last week.

“Based on our discussion, the Board continues to believe that Dr. Robbins is committed to the success and excellence of this district,” said Kershaw County School Board Chairman James Smith. “In the Board’s opinion, Dr. Robbins has shown himself to be a proven leader in the state during the Covid pandemic and gained national attention by his selection to the U.S. Department of Education panel, which consisted of a handful of educators across the country selected to discuss reopening protocols during the pandemic.”

Smith said that the school board applauded Robbins’ efforts to seek input from parents, teachers, students and medical providers to ensure the school district could offer a five-day option for in-person instruction and ensure the safety of all stakeholders.

He also noted that the school board appreciated the transparency of the up-to-date website dashboard that lists positive Covid-19 cases and the number of persons quarantined due to close contact. Smith thanked Dr. Robbins for his “great understanding of ESSER funds and making sound fiscal decisions to assist with the mitigation of Covid exposure in schools all while expanding educational options for our children.”

The Board congratulated Dr. Robbins for the successful construction and opening of the new North Central Elementary; the rebuilding of North Central High; keeping a watchful eye on the district’s fund balance; the creation and implementation of a learning objectives repository to give teachers district-wide access to best practices and lesson plans; creating the Director of Behavior Science Services position to ensure better oversight of mental health issues of students and staff; and helping bring a focus on military families in the school district.

Dr. Robbins also was commended for keeping the district focused on ensuring all students are college and career-ready.

Robbins received the same compensation raise equivalent to the percentage increase provided to the District’s teachers,12 months of severance pay and a $200 monthly payment to a health savings account.
