Two Kershaw County schools celebrate Hero Day on Friday, Sept. 10

Hero Day LogoTwo Kershaw County schools--the Continuous Learning Center (CLC) and the Kershaw County Virtual Academy--will host Hero Day from 8:30 to 10 a.m. Friday, Sept. 10. The CLC campus is located at 1109 Campbell Street, Camden. 
 
Vehicles, speakers, and simulations will take place outdoors. Participating agencies include:

  • American Legion Post 17
  • Blanketing Families
  • Camden Fire Department
  • Camden Police Dept./DARE
  • City of Camden Public Works
  • Kershaw County Dispatch
  • Kershaw County EMS/EMT
  • Kershaw County Sheriff's Office
  • Kershaw County School District Safety
  • Live PD
  • MUSC Health Kershaw Medical Center
  • National Guard
  • SC Department of Juvenile Justice
  • SC Department of Natural Resources
  • SC Highway Patrol  
  • SLED (SC Law Enforcement Division)

A moment of silence will be held at 8:46 a.m. to mark the first attack on the Twin Towers in NY.

Students and faculty/staff will watch 9/11 videos and personal stories, as well as discuss the significance of 9/11.

At the end of the day, students will write letters to our local heroes that will be mailed and/or hand-delivered.
