KCSD updates face mask requirement on school buses
July 14, 2021
Based on direction from the SC Department of Education (SCDE) in a July 6 memo, wearing face masks on activity and school buses in the Kershaw County School District (KCSD) will be optional for the 2021-22 school year.
As part of the change in requirement, the SCDE will remove the “Masks Required” signage from all state-owned school buses.
KCSD will resume full capacity on all activity and school buses and eliminate temperature checking when students board buses. As recommended by state public health experts, buses will continue to be sanitized daily by wiping down high-touch surface areas but will no longer use electrostatic spraying cleaning methods. Increased ventilation such as opening the bus roof vents and some windows as weather permits may still occur.
Wearing face masks in KCSD schools and facilities is also optional.
