Tomorrow's groundbreaking postponed; event to be held Monday

Shovels in the ground Due to the prediction of inclement weather, the groundbreaking ceremony for the new Kershaw County School District elementary school in the North Central area originally scheduled for tomorrow, Friday, November 15 has been postponed and has been rescheduled for Monday, November 18 at noon.

The public is invited to attend the groundbreaking ceremony for the $21 million school that will be built on property adjacent to North Central Middle School.

This summer, the Kershaw County School Board voted to close Mt. Pisgah Elementary School, Baron DeKalb Elementary School and Bethune Elementary School and build a new elementary school that can serve up to 600 students. The new school will open in the 2021-22 school year.
The school will be built by Hood Construction. Architects for the project are Pike-McFarland-Hall Associates, Inc. & UWPD Architecture,Inc.
