KCSD Teacher of the Year to be named Thursday night

Teacher of the Year Program Booklet Kershaw County School District will name its 2017 District Teacher of the Year at a 7 p.m. gala in the Camden High School auditorium Thursday, April 20. The public is invited to attend.

In addition to announcing the District Teacher of the Year, a First Alternate will be named and the district’s 2017 Principal of the Year David Branham from North Central High will be honored. The district will also name its Outstanding First Year Teacher.

All 20 Kershaw County schools selected teachers of the year earlier this school year. Five honor roll teachers have been selected as finalists for the district award: Brooke Bradshaw, ATEC; Aimee Nesbitt, Jackson School; Wendy Mullis, Lugoff-Elgin High; Jonas Nix, North Central Middle; and Kayla Geist, Wateree Elementary.

Serving as North Central High’s top administrator since 2014, Branham was elected as Principal of the Year by his peers.

Outstanding First Year Teacher honor roll teachers are Tarah McNelis, Camden Elementary; Madeline Holcombe, Pine Tree Hill Elementary; and Julie Mayo, Pine Tree Hill Elementary.

  • Jackson School – Aimee Nesbitt
  • Lugoff Elementary – Beth Kirincich
  • Lugoff-Elgin High – Wendy Mullis
  • Lugoff-Elgin Middle – Sara Stokes
  • Midway Elementary – Terri Odom
  • Mt. Pisgah Elementary – Amanda Williams
  • North Central High – Katie Hough
  • North Central Middle – Jonas Nix
