This summer, Kershaw County School District students are encouraged to Go Wild with books through the KCSD and Kershaw County Library Summer Reading Program!

KCSD students can participate in summer reading by completing the challenge for their grade level:

  • Elementary School: Win with 10! — read 10 books
  • Middle School: Strive for 5! — read 5 books
  • High School: Read 3! — read 3 books

Students should write down each book title on their reading log and return the completed log to their school library in August to earn a reading reward from KCSD.

Students can also take their reading log to the Kershaw County Library to participate in summer reading opportunities, special events, and prize programs. Elementary and middle school students can earn a free book to keep, and high school students can participate in the library’s teen summer reading challenge.

This year’s summer reading theme celebrates The Wild Robot by Peter Brown and encourages students to explore nature, friendship, and community through reading. Students may read The Wild Robot or any books of their choice. Reading can be tracked using the Beanstack app or a paper reading log from school or the library.
