Kershaw County School Board elects officers and signs ethical principles

During their January 13, 2026 Board Meeting, Dr. James Smith was sworn in as Chairman of the Kershaw County Board of School Trustees.
At its organizational meeting Tuesday, January 13, the Kershaw County Board of School Trustees installed officers and signed the SC School Boards Association's (SCSBA) ethical principles.
Dr. James Smith was re-elected as Kershaw County School Board chairperson and Shirley Halley was re-elected to serve as vice-chairperson and chaplain.

During their January 13, 2026 Board Meeting, Shirley Halley was sworn in as Vice Chair and Chaplain of the Kershaw County Board of School Trustees.
Chairman Smith appointed Ron Blackmon as the chair of the board’s finance and facilities committee and Dr. Charles King as the board’s legislative liaison.
Superintendent Harrison Goodwin and Chairman James Smith also recognized Vice Chair Shirley Halley for 15 years of board service. She was presented with a certificate and lapel pin provided by the South Carolina School Boards Association.
Kershaw County School Board members also signed SCSBA's annual ethical principles that reinforce board members' commitment to open communication, support for public education and working together.

During their January 13, 2026 Board Meeting, Superintendent Dr. Harrison Goodwin and Chairman Dr. James Smith recognized Vice Chair Shirley Halley for 15 years of dedicated board service.

During their January 13, 2026 Board Meeting, Kershaw County School Board members signed the SCSBA Ethical Principles, reaffirming their commitment to ethical governance and public education.
