KCSD cancels weekend activities; continues to monitor the weather

Kershaw County School District is canceling all weekend activities (Saturday, Jan. 31 and Sunday, Feb. 1) as anticipated severe winter weather is forecasted for our area. All school buildings and offices will be closed this weekend. 

The KCSD Teacher Career Fair scheduled for Saturday, January 31, is rescheduled for Saturday, February 21, 2026.

An update will be sent out to all KCSD staff and families on Sunday, February 1, regarding any changes to the school schedule for next week. Throughout the weekend, district teams will consult with state and county agencies, review the most recent weather forecasts for the days ahead, and check district facilities before making any further decisions. 

The District understands students, families, and staff need as much notice as possible to make the necessary arrangements, but we also don’t want to make a premature decision because we understand how disruptive schedule changes are for families.

As always, any further updates will be posted on our district and school websites and social media, as well as reported to local news stations. Parents and employees will also receive messages from our mass notification system.

The safety of students and staff is the top priority when making decisions about severe weather.
