ACT PreACT PSAT SAT and WIN
ACT, PreACT, PSAT, SAT, And CCR Exam
The ACT is a standardized test designed to measure high school students’ general educational development and their ability to complete college-level work. The ACT is curriculum-based and tests the core subjects that students typically study through their third year of high school (English, reading, mathematics, and science). The ACT features an optional writing test. Students should check with their prospective colleges to see if they need to complete the essay portion. For more information, please visit the ACT website: https://www.act.org/
The Pre-ACT simulates the ACT testing experience within a shorter time on all four ACT test subjects. The results predict future success on the ACT test.
The SAT is a standardized test that colleges use to evaluate students’ college preparedness. It is designed to measure a student’s ability to understand and process elements in three subjects: reading, writing, and mathematics. When a student registers for the SAT, he or she will indicate whether or not he or she wants to take the SAT with or without the essay. Some colleges and universities require the essay and others do not. If students are unsure if the colleges they are interested in attending require the essay portion, it is recommended to take it to be sure that their applications are processed. Beginning in January 2024, the SAT will be fully digital.
The PSAT has two primary purposes. It introduces students to the organization and types of questions found on the SAT and helps students to predict their scores on the SAT. The junior year PSAT scores are used in selecting semifinalists for the National Merit Scholarship awards, early college admissions, and programs such as the Governor’s School and college Junior Scholar/Fellow Awards. PSAT is now digital as well.

- Reading Assessment
- Data Assessment
Districts must administer The South Carolina Career Ready Test to all 11th grade students based on 9GR. Eleventh-grade students are students in the third year of high school after their initial enrollment in the ninth grade. Students in the 12th grade may take this assessment in the spring as well.
