From December 2007 to June 2015 I taught functional academics, life skills, and transition to high school students. From 2015-2018 I taught functional academics, life skills, and transition in the Kershaw County School District at Camden Middle. From the 2015-2016 school year to the present, I have been teaching functional academics, life skills, and transition skills. My class uses the alternate curriculums, News 2 You & Unique (ULS), and essentials for living. We prepare recipes weekly and care for an outdoor garden where we grow vegetables, fruits, and flowers. In addition to this, we participate in community-based learning and run a school-based coffee cart business late start Wednesday.
I am a graduate of Camden High School. I have a Bachelor's in Multi-Categorical Special Education K-12 and a Master's in Education in Divergent Learning from Columbia College in Columbia SC., I also have a Master of Arts in Autism Spectrum disorders from Grand Canyon University.
I have three children; 1 daughter, and 2 sons. Currently, my oldest son is a graduate of Lugoff Elgin High School. My youngest son is still enrolled in Kershaw County Schools. My daughter is too young for school.
The highlight of my career is being a Special Olympics Coach and being in charge of LE's Unify Champion Schools Program. We renewed our status as a National Unified Champion School! We were awarded our banner during 2020-2021! I encourage everyone to BE A FAN! Our unified sports include Bocce, Bowling, Basketball, Track and Field, and Powerlifting!
