Mr. Byron Johnson

It is a pleasure and an honor to serve as the principal of Camden Middle School. I am a proud graduate of Camden High School (CHS) and it is truly a blessing to return to my community to serve in this capacity. Upon graduating from CHS, I attended the College of Charleston, where I earned a BS in Accounting and Business Administration. Upon graduation, I began my career in education in Charleston County School District where I taught middle school for five years before becoming a teacher coach. While teaching, I returned to graduate school and received a Masters in Educational Administration from Charleston Southern University and a Masters in Technology Education from Lesley University. I returned home in 2007 to become an Assistant Principal at CHS and in 2012 I became the Principal at Camden Middle School.

Aside from school, I am very lucky to have a wonderful wife Sherri who is also an educator and two sons Jordan and Jaden. I truly believe in the ability of every child to learn given appropriate supports, and I encourage students to make every day a great day because the choice is truly theirs.
