Mrs. Elena Gaston
Welcome to my page! I am very excited to be back in CHS! Here is a little bit about me:
I was born and raised in Spain. I came to the US at the age of 18 to get my degree in Biology Education and since then, I have fallen in love with South Carolina. I've always wanted to be a teacher, but it was not until my high school science classes that I decided to teach Biology. During my 12 years of experience, I have taught in several districts in the state (Greenville, Fairfield, and Sumter) and a year in Charlotte, NC. I enjoy teaching Biology because it is a way for me to better understand myself and my environment.
Some of my professional achievements are the completion of a Masters Degree in Biology through Clemson University (go Tigers!!) in 2015, being named South Carolina's Biology Teacher of the year by the National Association of Biology Teachers in 2016, and becoming Camden High School's Teacher of the year in 2017.
I am married to Ben, a wonderful science nerd like me. We have two incredible daughters, who are fraternal twins, two dogs (Samson and Delilah), and we live in a house in the country surrounded by trees. In my (limited) spare time, I like to read, sew, watch my favorite shows, and cook new recipes.
