Welcome to the LES family! I look forward to another great year serving our students, families and community as your school nurse.  Today's school nurse contends with a vast array of responsibilities from immunization compliance, identifying communicable diseases, first aid and emergency response and training, to managing community health protocals, and  chronic diseases such as diabetes and asthma in the school setting. Learning and knowledge are common goals in education. As a school nurse, teaching students healthy lifestyle practices while removing barriers to learning is a daily priority. We are fortunate to have full time nursing coverage at LES, 5 days a week, to attend to the daily health concerns of students, faculty and staff.

I come from a proud Gamecock family, graduating from the University of South Carolina in 1985, from the College of Nursing with a Bachelor of Science degree. Shortly after graduation, I married my high school sweet-heart, Johnny Deal. We are blessed with two grown daughters, Margaret Lane and Emily. We are ready for another great school year at LES!
