Hello, my name is Mary Ann McPheeters, and I am so excited to be teaching 5th grade this year! The skills we practice daily in 5th grade are the building blocks for your child’s future success in school and in life. I am committed to making this year one of excitement, growth, and opportunity, both academically and socially. I will guide and encourage your child, celebrating each step of the way as he or she gains a love of learning, self-confidence, and the academic skills that form a foundation for continued success.
I pledge to care for each child’s individual and social needs throughout the year and show them that school is a safe and consistent place to learn and explore. I LOVE teaching and look forward to caring for, supporting, and encouraging your child daily as we embark on the wonderful adventure of learning.
This will be my seventeenth year teaching. I taught 2nd grade for eight years and the rest of my career has been in 4th grade. This is my first year at Wateree Elementary. I am originally from Charleston, SC. I graduated from Winthrop University, GO EAGLES!!! I am married and have two daughters who will both attend Wateree Elementary; Mary Elizabeth and Virginia.
My family is always at the barn because both of my girls ride horses. We have a miniature horse named Banjo, and two ponies, one named Bravo and the other named Rascal. We also have two dogs, a poodle named Ollie and a labradoodle named Wells. Teaching has been my passion since I was a child, following in my mother’s footsteps, who was also taught 5th grade at the end of her career. Again, I am so happy to be your child’s 5th grade teacher, and I am looking forward to getting to know your family throughout the school year!
