Welcome to the 2022-23 School Year!
This is my first year at NCHS, and I am very excited to be part of the Knights family! I will be teaching United States History and Constitution and Human Geography, my two favorite subjects.
I am originally from Ripley, West Virginia. My wife and I currently live in Elgin. I am an experienced teacher of social studies/ history, which I have taught for twenty-eight years at the middle school, high school, and community college levels. I am also currently employed as an online adjunct instructor in a Masters of Online Teaching program at the university level. In my most recent positions, I worked as the social studies assessment specialist at the South Carolina Department of Education and as the high school social studies curriculum consultant at Richland One School District. I look forward to getting back in the classroom as a social studies teacher.
I hold a bachelor’s degree in History Education from Liberty University, a master’s degree in Social Studies Education from Appalachian State University, and a doctoral degree in Education - Curriculum and Instruction from Gardner-Webb University. I am also a Nationally Board-Certified teacher in Adolescence and Young Adulthood/ Social Studies.
I have been happily married to my wife, Ellen, for 27 years. Ellen just recently retired from North Carolina after teaching 30 years as an elementary school teacher. I enjoy traveling, exercising, reading, and watching anything sports related.
