B.S. Biology Middle Level Science Certification

Ms. LaKesha Meredith

Hello!  I recently began teaching Middle School Science at Kershaw County Virtual Academy (KCVA).  I teach 6th, 7th and 8th grade students within the academy.  Prior to teaching in Kershaw County I spent a year teaching Kindergarten-7th grade students as a Science Lab Teacher at a charter school in Florence, SC and a Science Lab Related Arts Instructor at an elementary school in Sumter, SC for 5 years.

I received a B.S. in Biology from Morris College in Sumter, SC.  I bring a passion for the Sciences and inspiring students to explore the world around them with a mind open for exploration, innovation and experimentation.  I am a certified Project Lead the Way (PLTW) instructor, and was recently selected as a Cornwell Collaborative Fellow for Middle School teachers, receiving 3 years of support within the program gaining mentorship, supplies, and colloboration from educators within the field.  This colloborative was created to reduce teacher retention issues within the state of South Carolina.  I will begin completing certification in STEAM Education with Clemson University this Fall.

It is my goal to inspire my students to seek careers in the STEAM field by ensuring a learning environment that sparks curiosity within my students.
