Tabitha Strickland joined the North Central High School staff as an assistant principal in February of 2020. Prior to this new role, Strickland served as an implementation support coordinator and high incident consultant in the SC Department of Education’s Office of Special Education Services for five years. In this role, she managed the implementation of the South Carolina High School Credential, lead an intra-agency team to develop a statewide co-teaching framework and planned improvements of inclusive practices in all levels of the statewide educational system.

Strickland also served as a special education coordinator for the Berkeley County School District and as a LEAD special education teacher and department head at Cane Bay High School. She was a teacher of the year at a North Carolina school and received AbleSC’s Commendable Award in 2019.

She has a bachelor of arts degree in psychology and communication studies from the University of North Carolina at Wilmington, a special education in learning disabilities degree from the University of North Carolina at Fayetteville and at Pembroke and a master of science degree in school administration from the University of North Carolina at Pembroke.
