Dr. Remona Jenkins, SHRM-CP, serves as the Director of Teacher Quality and Staff Development. She oversees Teacher Induction, South Carolina Mentors, Staff Development, and supports recruiting efforts. Dr. Jenkins previously served as the Instructional Technology Coordinator in the department of Educational Technology, where she oversaw the district's Technology Integration Specialist and provided support with curriculum creation and professional development, which focused on technology integration and differentiation strategies.
Prior to her work in KCSD, Dr. Jenkins served as a District Consultant overseeing the National Board Program, Teacher Induction, International Teachers, training for South Carolina Mentors, new hire orientation, and the implementation of the elementary social studies curriculum for 27 schools. As a Certified Critical Friends coach, Dr. Jenkins provided intense personalized professional development and coaching to K-12 teachers to enhance instruction and navigate the SCTS 4.0 evaluation process.
Dr. Jenkins is a National Board Certified Teacher and has coached teachers through the National Board process. She has also been recognized with the Chameleon of Education Award as the "Best Elementary Teacher." Dr. Jenkins has written curriculum, taught online courses for the University of Phoenix and Western International University, served as a GED Proctor and as an Executive Director for a nonprofit. As a SC Certified Early Childhood Career Development Trainer, she has provided professional development to numerous early childhood professionals in the Midlands. As a member of SHRM's Voice of Work Research Panel, she provides insight into local, regional, and national work trends affecting education, business, and other industries.
Dr. Jenkins lives in Columbia with her husband and two children. She has served on Richland County's Foster Care Review board in various capacities since 2007.
