Welcome to First Grade! My name is Caroline Mertens and I'm so excited to be your child's teacher for first grade! This is my 10th year of teaching and I've been teaching first grade for all 10 years.

My husband, Daniel, and I live in Elgin. We are expecting a little girl in November and are so excited for this new adventure. We also have a Boykin Spaniel named Murphy and a dachshund mix named Gabby who keep us entertained constantly! 

This year is going to be a great year in first grade!
