Mrs. Melisa Blankenship

I would like to take this opportunity to introduce myself. In 1986, I received my Undergraduate Degree from Marshall University in Huntington, West Virginia and a Master’s Degree from the University of South Carolina in 1995. I have been teaching school for 28 years. In November 2007, I received my National Board Certification and renewed that certification in 2017. During the 2008-2009 school year, my colleagues voted me as their representative for Wateree Teacher of the Year. I was voted Reading Teacher of the Year three times for Wateree Elementary.  My husband and I have been married for 33 years. We moved to South Carolina from West Virginia in 1988, and we have two grown children. My daughter, Morgan graduated from the University of South Carolina and has her Doctorate in Physical Therapy. She is married to her best friend Jordan Black and they live in Morristown, Tennessee.   My son, Matthew is an Eagle Scout and is employed in Columbia. We are members of St. John’s United Methodist Church in Lugoff. I enjoy spending time with my family, reading, swimming and going to South Carolina football games.

I am looking forward to my third year as the Reading Coach at Wateree Elementary School. I anticipate an exciting school year full of great accomplishments!
