Laura Hamilton

Welcome to my class page!

My name is Laura Hamilton and I am incredibly excited to be a part of the Lugoff-Elgin High School family!

2019 - 2020 is my first year at LEHS, and my 27th year of teaching. I have taught both CP and Honors Biology as well as International Baccalaureate (IB) Biology at both A.C. Flora High School and Richland Northeast High School over the past number of years. I love the subject of biology and hope that this is relayed to my students on a daily basis in the classroom.

I received my B.A. in Biology from Columbia College, my Masters in Secondary Science Education from the University of South Carolina, and I am a current doctoral candidate in Curriculum and Instruction with an emphasis on technology integration at the University of South Carolina - my hope is to graduate by next August (2020). I also have my National Certification in AYA science, and my gifted and talented certification as well.

I have two children, Jordan and Margaret (Meg), who are both living on their own which leaves me time to do what I enjoy most...gardening, fishing, camping, kayaking, attempting to do archery (I am a complete newbie at this point), listening to live music at different venues, riding my motorcycle, and spending time with friends and family. I also have a new granddaughter, Maura, who has now taken her place as the center of my universe.
