Dr. Felicia Tention

Hello Tiger families and friends!

I am Felicia Witherspoon Tention. I am from Sumter, South Carolina. I moved to Columbia (Richland County) in 2012.

I am very excited about Stover! We have a great year ahead of us. I am delighted to be a part of the Special Services Team.

I have been an educator for over 20 years. I spent my first 16 years of teaching in general education at the elementary level. I taught first through sixth grade at the elementary level. In 2012, I began providing Special Services. I have taught Special Education on the elementary, middle and high school level in both resource and self contained settings. As I truly enjoy teaching and learning, I have also taught on the college level at Central Carolina Technical College and directed developmental instruction at Morris College. I periodically provide home therapy services for the Early Autism Project in the Columbia area.

I received my Bachelor's degree in Early Childhood Education from Coastal Carolina University (1996), a Master's degree in Divergent Learning from Columbia College (2002), a Master's degree in Learning Disabilities from Francis Marion University (2007), an Educational Specialist degree in Educational Leadership from Cambridge College (2011) and a Doctorate in Educational Administration from South Carolina State University (Dec. 2015).

In my free time, I enjoy talking on the phone with friends, shopping and hanging by the pool. I have two sons, Jaylen (17) - 12th grade) and Nevin (13)- 8th grade). We enjoy traveling together and playing with our Jack Russells, Bandit (8) and Henry (6).

I am proud to serve the students and parents of the Stover Family! We are going to have a "PAWsome" school year!
