Ms. McCallum

My name is Carson McCallum and 2020-2021 will be my third year at Stover Middle School. I look forward to sharing this academic year with you. I come from a family of educators and my love of literature led me from Converse College, where I earned a Bachelors in English, to the classroom! I am a Kershaw County native and am excited to be back and teaching a subject I love! My other areas of interest are traveling, legends and mysteries, MarvelHarry Potter, and Star Wars. Sources of great enjoyment in my life are: my lovable black cats, Puck and Idgie; watching action/adventure movies; and - of course! - reading as many books as I can get my hands on! I look forward to getting to know your student's passions as we work together for their academic success.

This page contains videos from previous in class activities and 8th grade videos as well as general announcements. Please reference the sub-pages on this website for access to specfic class pages, Google Classroom and for helpful resources and information about class assignments, activities, projects, presentations, pictures, etc. Also note that each class has a Remind feed for easy updates on what we are doing or might need for class!

Meet the Teacher!
I'm excited to meet you and I look forward to this year!
  •  The future is uncertain... but this uncertainty is at the very heart of human creativity.

This year is going to run differently from usual. However, I don't believe that we should be afraid of different - especially if it keeps us safe! That being said, let's be understanding that new procedures and policies will require a trial run. Our district is working very hard to ensure the safety of students and teachers returning to the classroom September 8th, 2020. You can follow updates from the district office here. Please be patient as we learn and grow through this crisis.

Please know that I will also be working hard in the classroom to make sure students are safe and actively engaged in learning. My classroom will not be run the same and my procedures are changing to best account for student safety. Please contact me if there are concerns about student access to materials listed in the syllabus and I will require students to have headphones and charged school-issued devices in class everyday.

I believe in our ability to make this year engaging and innovative through cooperation and communication. I look forward to working with my 2020-2021 families!

This year is gonna be different!
