Dr. Shane Robbins
Dr. Shane Robbins, ATC, was recently appointed the Superintendent for the Kershaw County School District. Prior to coming to Kershaw County, Dr. Robbins has served as a teacher and administrator in Indiana for over 20 years with the last 10 years serving in the role of Superintendent.
Dr. Robbins brings a sense of desire and passion to work collaboratively with staff, students, and the community to ensure schools are providing students with a 21st century learning environment. During his tenure as a Superintendent, Dr. Robbins has overseen technology integration initiatives that allowed school districts to move away from traditional classroom instruction and textbooks. The vision embraces a blended project-based learning approach and one-to-one technology where students leverage technology to increase engagement for improved outcomes. The results have yielded dividends with increased student achievement in state and AP exams. This resulted in exemplary status identification for both districts where he led this initiative including a National School to Watch designation at Triton Central Middle School.
For his leadership, Dr. Robbins was recognized in 2017 by the Indiana Association of School Superintendents as the District VI Superintendent of the year and in 2012 by the Indiana Association of School Business Officials as the Region V Business Officer of the Year, Cambridge’s Who’s Who Among Business Executives, and A “Distinguished Hoosier” by then Governor of Indiana Mitch Daniels. He was identified as one of four Superintendents in the state of Indiana appointed to a panel to review Indiana’s Accountability System for schools and school districts.
Additionally, Dr. Robbins has served in the United States Army since 1987 elevating to the rank of Colonel. He served as the Education Officer and Chief of Operations on a Deployment to Afghanistan in support of Operation Enduring Freedom where his team was charged with training both secondary and post-secondary agriculture teachers/professors. During his military career, he has been recognized with multiple major awards including the Bronze Star, Humanitarian Service Medal, NATO Service Medal, and the Operation Enduring Freedom Service Award.
Dr. Robbins graduated from Franklin College with a B.A. in Allied Health and Athletic Training. His graduate degrees include Master’s degrees in Secondary Education as well as K-12 Administration. He also earned an Educational Specialist Degree as a Superintendent and his doctorate in leadership all from Ball State University.
Dr. Robbins, his wife Heather, and sons Bryce (21 and a Junior Elementary Education Major at Franklin College) and Brandon (17, a senior) live in Camden.
