Mrs. Pam Humphries
I have been teaching for 34 years. I love science and learning new things in science. Teaching science is such a pleasure, and I enjoy sharing the adventure of science with my students. My first 10 years of teaching were spent in Oklahoma. Then my husband, daughter, and I moved to South Carolina in 1992. I spent the next 14 years teaching here at Lugoff-Elgin Middle School. We moved back to Oklahoma for one year. Then we moved back to South Carolina and I began teaching at Gilbert Middle School in 2009. I taught there for 7 years. I am so excited to be back at LEMS this year. I have taught many different grades and several different subjects, but I can certainly tell you that I like teaching 8th grade science the best of all.
I have been married to my husband, Richard, for 36 years. He is the Pastoral Care & Senior Adult minister at First Baptist Church of Columbia. We have a daughter, Kendra, who graduated from LEHS. My hobbies and interests include reading, traveling, sports, church activities, spending time with my family and friends, and watching movies.
I hope my students have a great eighth grade year filled with the love of Science. Remember S-C-I-E-N-C-E stands for Simple Curious Ideas Excite Natural Curious Exploration. So open your mind (A mind is like a parachute. It works best when open.), and find your curiosity because it can take you everywhere. I am here to help; all you have to do is be ready to accept it and come along for the ride.
