Welcome to another school year! I am excited about beginning my eighth year at Lugoff Elementary as the Resource teacher. I have been teaching within the special education field for 22 years. Wow! That time sure has passed quickly. My first six years teaching were spent in Hawaii, on the island of Oahu. Here I taught seventh and eighth grades self-contained through inclusion. The next seven years, I taught in Buffalo, New York. Here I was the special education teacher within a pre-kindergarten inclusion classroom. This will be my 10th year teaching in South Carolina. Prior to working in schools, while in college, I worked for a non-profit organization providing a variety of services to individuals with disabilities (ages 5-65) and their families for six years. During this time, I had the opportunity to be a Special Olympics coach and be a part of bringing services to Western New York for individuals with Traumatic Brain Injury (TBI).
I have a Bachelor's degree in Exceptional Education from the State University of New York College at Buffalo (Buff State) and a Master of Education degree from the University of Phoenix in Teacher Leadership.
My family keeps me busy. My husband Wally and I enjoy updating our home. My oldest daughter, Willow (17) is a senior this year, and enjoys modeling and taking care of her dog. Montana (15) enjoys competing in and teaching karate. My son Harris (13) is on the Lugoff-Elgin swim and track and field teams, a red belt in karate and is a boy scout.
I enjoy reading, gardening, and spending time with my family.
