Dr. Kristy McIntyre

Welcome to KCSD!

My name is Dr. Kristy McIntyre and I am a mathematics teacher at Camden Middle School. I love to integrate technology into teaching at KCSD.  The mission and vision of Kershaw County School District are to "empower and challenge all students to become productive members of a globally dynamic society," and I am doing my part in helping that happen.  #elevateKCSD

I am a Pennsylvania native whose dream of moving south towards sunny skies and oceans came true in the summer of 2011!! (Yes, I am a fan of all things Pittsburgh including Steelers, Pirates, and Penguins.)  I believe that EVERY student can learn and does so in their own style. It is imperative that the education of students include the various modalities in order to obtain success for all. This and the belief that education is the most powerful item that one can earn drives me to promote the success of all learners.

I obtained my Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Maryland.  My Masters of Education and also my principal leadership from Edinboro University of Pennsylvania.  Finally, I received final approval on my dissertation for my doctoral degree from Capella University in October of 2016.

I have spent the last 24 years working as an elementary teacher, child counselor, and middle school math teacher.  I have also written standardized tests for Pearson and served as a data analyst for iTutor.com.   I am currently certified and highly qualified in early childhood education, elementary education, and middle-level mathematics, as well as principal K-12.  I have completed research in many areas within the education of students. However, my focus is now on methods of collaboration.  As I complete the publication of my book based on extensive research into the collaboration of teachers, I look forward to my next endeavor.

I am married to a disabled veteran and together we have 8 children. It’s a crazy hectic life, but it is mine.  I deal with all the situations I encounter with compassion and understanding because I know what it is like to manage co-parenting, baseball, softball, track, dance, cheer, play practice, and homework. I am encouraged to be a part of such an amazing school district and am looking forward to another great year!

Yours in Education,

Dr. McIntyre
