During his time in Kershaw County, he has served in many different district level capacities contributing to many of the successes of the school district over the last two decades.  During this time, 3 district schools have won the coveted Palmetto's Finest designation, while two others have been recognized nationally for outstanding student achievement.  Tim is a past recipient of the national Federal Programs Administrator of the Year Award and Past President of the South Carolina Association of Title One Administrators (SCATA).  He and his wife, a career educator at Lugoff Elementary School have two children who graduated from Lugoff-Elgin High School

Mr. Hopkins understands the complexities of a military family.  He spent 23 years in the United States Air Force, serving both as an enlisted airman and a commissioned officer.  His assignments included serving as the mission support team flight commander of the 81st Aerial Port Squadron in Greenville, SC to commander of the 94th Aerial Port Squadron located at Robins Air Force Base, GA.  He served with distinction earning several major awards; including the Meritorious Service Medal, Air Force Outstanding Unit Award with five oak leaf clusters, National Defense Medal, Armed Forces Reserve Medal, and Humanitarian Service Medal.  In 1991, he was recognized as the 14th Air Force Company Grade Officer-of-the-Year.   These experiences have prepared him for this role and to serve our incoming military families.

Mr. Hopkins received his bachelor’s degree (B.A.), a master’s degree (M.Ed) in education, and an Educational Specialist (Ed.S) all from Winthrop University.  He also has completed further studies at the University of South Carolina.
