This is my 31st year of teaching. I grew up in Camden, and attended Camden public schools. I graduated from the College of Charleston with a degree in Elementary Education in 1990, and began my teaching career in Charleston the following fall. I taught second grade at Sanders Clyde Elementary for 7 years. I completed my masters degree in Early Childhood Education in 1993 from the College of Charleston. I moved back home to Camden in 1998, and have been teaching middle school math in Kershaw County since 1998. I earned my National Board certification in Early Adolescence Mathematics in 2002 and renewed in 2012.
I am married to Billy Watkins, who is also from Camden. We have three children. Julia attends graduate school at Clemson University, Curtis is serving in the US Navy, and Liza is a tenth grader at Camden High School. I love spending time with my family, reading, taking photographs, and traveling.
I am looking forward to working closely with you to make sure your child has a successful year. Please do not hesitate to contact me with questions, ideas, or concerns!
