I am a 1988 graduate of Hartsville High School, and a 1992 graduate of Francis Marion University. I earned a bachelors of science degree in elementary education and began my teaching career in the fall of 1992. I was an eager young teacher excited about beginning my career teaching first grade in Timmonsville, South Carolina.
In 1995, I began teaching 4th grade at Pine Tree Elementary under the direction of Mr. Tim Hopkins. I can't thank him enough for the opportunity to join the Kershaw County School District. While at Pine Tree Hill, I taught 4th grade, 1st grade, and 2nd grade.
In 2005, I joined that staff at Camden Elementary School. I have enjoyed teaching 1st, 2nd, and 3rd grade during my time at CES. Now in my 24th year of teaching, I am excited about teaching second grade once again.
In 2018, I joined the staff of Doby's Mill as the Literacy Coach. After serving 1 year, I continued my coaching career at Doby's Mill, Blaney, and Wateree serving in the area of MTSS. I currently serve as the MTSS Coach for Doby's Mill and Wateree Elementary.
Over the course of my career, I have gained knowledge in several areas of education: 4 Block Approach to Literacy, Learning Styles, Literacy Circles, Differentiated Instruction, Multi-Sensory Strategies, Multi-Tiered Systems of Support, Enrichment and Intervention, and Strategies for teaching students with ADD/ADHD.
I live in Camden with my husband, Ed. We have three children; Sarah, Will, and Banks.
