I was born a brat (an Air Force brat)! I am the baby of the family and have two older brothers; Lee, who lives in Newnan, GA, and works for Delta Air Lines, and Paul, who lives in Moore, S.C, and is a purchaser for the Denny's Corporation.   I spent my elementary years in Virginia,  and from there went to Ankara, Turkey.  We were blessed to be stationed in Turkey for two years.  The Turkish people were so warm and welcomed us into their country and taught us about their culture.   While there,  I was also lucky enough to get an Arabian horse.  My riding instructor was a former Olympian so I worked and learned a lot from him.  From Turkey, we went to Belleville, Illinois where I attended high school.  Although my father retired in Illinois,  we always knew we wanted to come back south, so Lugoff it was!  I attended Presbyterian College and graduated in early childhood which brought me to Blaney!

My father passed away in 2013 and I am lucky enough to have convinced my best friend to move in with me.  I've known her for a long time and we get along great!   My mom has been living with me for about  5 years now and we have a ball!  I also have two children (who have four legs each).  Lacy, is a precious blind, white Maltese, who has diabetes.   I have to give her two shots a day to keep her healthy.  Cindy, is an adorable red headed terrier.   They are the cutest little dogs and are both spoiled rotten!

I have been teaching 26 years, in both first grade and 2nd grade, kindergarten, multi-age, and  learning disabled.

I am so very excited to meet my students!!  I recognize some of these adorable faces and I can't wait to get and give some terrific hugs!!

Make sure your child is reading aloud to you every night.  If they struggle with words and/or read slowly then they will need more practice.  Second graders should be fluent readers and the more practice they have the fluency will improve.

Some parents have told me they are asking comprehension questions about their weekly story----Awesome!!!  Make sure they give you the answers back in complete sentences.

Encourage your children to complete their work and try their very best.
