Mr. Michael Johnson

Michael Johnson, High School Choral Director, is now in his tenth year at Lugoff-Elgin high school after teaching for several years in the Charleston area. He has directed the advanced singers in our annual Madrigal Dinner, a Yuletide feast, play, comedy, and concert all in one, and he has helped as the musical director in L.E.'s musicals. He has directed the choirs of James Island Middle School and Ashley Ridge High School. He has also taught guitar at Alston Middle School. Before coming to LEHS, he spent the last four years as the Chorus and Band director at Bishop England High School, where the Chorus was asked to perform at the National Catholic Education convention in Charleston.

He received his Master of Arts in Teaching in performing arts, with an emphasis in choral conducting from the University of Charleston, and completed his undergraduate studies at the College of Charleston with a Bachelor of Arts in Music Theory and Composition. While at the College of Charleston he was elected President of the Concert Choir. He was also asked to write a fight song for the basketball team, and was featured on Cougar television.
