Harrison Goodwin
Dr. Goodwin is originally from Camden, SC., and is pleased to be returning to Kershaw County as the Superintendent, beginning on July 1, 2022.
Prior to being appointed superintendent of the Kershaw County School District, Dr. Goodwin was superintendent of Chesterfield County Schools from 2012-2022. During his tenure in Chesterfield County, the district and its schools have received many accolades. Under his leadership, the district received its first-ever Excellent on the South Carolina State Report Card. Previously, he served as an assistant superintendent and principal in Spartanburg One, and as an assistant principal and teacher in Greenwood 52.
In 2019 Dr. Goodwin was named South Carolina Superintendent of the Year. He was also honored with the following awards: 2016 Superintendent of the Year by the South Carolina Athletic Administrators Association, 2016 Outstanding Superintendent by the Career and Technology Administrators Association, and 2012 Honor Administrator of the Year by the South Carolina Music Educators Association.
Dr. Goodwin serves on numerous boards and has held many offices in education-related organizations, including the South Carolina Association of School Administrators (SCASA), South Carolina School Boards Insurance Trust, South Carolina Association of Governmental Organizations, Northeastern Technical College Board of Commissioners, and Chesterfield County First Steps. He served as the president of the Superintendent’s Division SCASA during the 2019-20 school year and as the president of SCASA in 2020-2021.
Dr. Goodwin holds both a bachelor’s and Master’s degree from Clemson University and a Doctorate in Educational Leadership from Nova Southeastern University in Fort Lauderdale, Florida.
