Employee Assistance

Employee Assistance Program (EAP)

Kershaw County School District full-time employees and their families now have access to an Employee Assistance Program administered by The ALPHA Behavioral Health Center (ALPHA). For those experiencing personal and/or work related problems, the EAP offers access to confidential and professional assistance.

Who Qualifies:

All full-time KCSD employees & their eligible dependents:

  • spouse
  • child (under 20 or currently attending college)
  • parent (if living in the home of the employee)
  • grandchild if living in the home of the employee
  • or anyone acting as guardian or if under the guardianship of an employee

Confidentiality:

ALPHA views  client  privacy  and  security as very important. The ALPHA Center is required by law not to share any information about clients without their written permission (authorization), except under very specific circumstances defined by law. If an employee is mandated to attend services, attendance and completion will be reported to employer.

EAP Services:

In addition to a clinical assessment, all KCSD employees/eligible family members are eligible to receive six counseling sessions at no charge.  Counseling services are available for:

  • Marriage Grief
  • Family
  • Depression and/or Anxiety
  • Post Traumatic Stress Disorder Trauma
  • Substance Abuse

Additional Services:

Employee or family member may seek further counseling services after their sixth session. Services may be covered by insurance or a financial application may be completed to determine costs based upon income.

About the Alpha Center:

Mission: 

ALPHA provides quality services to individuals and their families to reduce problems associated with alcohol, tobacco and other drugs of abuse, behavioral health needs, and co-occurring disorders, in an accessible outpatient setting.

Staff:

ALPHA employs a clinical team with vast knowledge and experience. Clinicians hold certifications and licensures including the following: Licensed Professional Counselor in South Carolina (LPC), Licensed Master of Social Work (LMSW), National Certified Addictions Counselor (NCAC), Substance Abuse Professional (SAP), and Victim Specialist.

Accreditation:

ALPHA is accredited by the Commission on Accreditation of Rehabilitation Facilities (CARF). First accredited in 1996 and again thereafter, each time for a three-year period. This is the longest accreditation period granted by CARF and indicates their significant compliance with the standards set forth by CARF.
