Prescription Benefits Update (Effective January 1, 2026)
Greetings from your KCSD Benefits Department!
A change is coming to prescription coverage for all State Health Plan members:
• Caremark will replace Express Scripts as the pharmacy benefits manager beginning January 1, 2026.
• New prescription benefits ID cards will be mailed to all subscribers before December 31, 2025.

Caremark Information & Resources
The Caremark transition microsite is now available at:

This site includes:
- Covered drug look-up tools
- Informational flyers and plan summaries
- Guidance for creating a Caremark account (available mid-December)
Once members create an account in mid-December, they will be able to:
- Search for network pharmacies
- Check medication prices
- View prescription benefits details specific to their plan
Covered Drug Information
PEBA will use Caremark’s Advanced Control Specialty Formulary. Please note: the State Health Plan may not cover all medications listed on the Caremark formulary.
