Grade Calculation & Grading Policy
The Kershaw County School District's grading policy is a uniform 10 point scale across all grade levels, except kindergarten. 4K and 5K use a different report card and grading scale.
Letter Grade | Numerical Average |
A | 90-100 |
B | 80-89 |
C | 70-79 |
D | 60-69 |
F | Below 60 |
How Grades are Calculated in KCSD:
Elementary Schools use the following:
- Weighting: 60% Major Grades/40% Minor Grades
- A minimum of:
English/Language Arts: | 3 major grades 6 minor grades 9 grades total |
Mathematics: | 3 major grades 6 minor grades 9 grades total |
Science/Health: | 2 major grades 4 minor grades 6 grades total |
Social Studies: | 2 major grades 4 minor grades 6 grades total |
Middle and High Schools use the following:
- Weighting: 60% Major Grades/40% Minor Grades
- Minimum number of grades posted in a nine week period in all core subjects is 12; a minimum of three of the 12 grades are major grades
