Canvas Learning Management System
Canvas is a web-based learning management system or LMS. It is used by learning institutions, educators, and students to access and manage online course learning materials and communicate about skill development and learning achievement.
In other words, Canvas is a one-stop shop for all course content and interaction including student grades, assignments and feedback.
KCSD families use Canvas to check students’ daily assignments and grades.
The first step for a parent who wants to access his/her student’s information in Canvas is to create an account and obtain a pairing code.

How can I access Canvas?
Canvas can be accessed online at the following links:
- Parent Link: http://kcsdlms.instructure.com/login/canvas
- Student Link: http://kcsdlms.instructure.com
Is there a Canvas app?
Yes, the Canvas app can be accessed on IOS or Android. There is a Parent and a Student version. When asked for “school” please search for “kershaw” or “kcsdlms.”
How can students log in to Canvas?
All students have Canvas accounts. Students who log into Canvas using their district device do not have to worry about a username and password because they will automatically be logged in using their Google credentials.
How does a parent get access to his/her student’s information through Canvas?

You can gain access via a web browser on a desktop or laptop or through the use of the Canvas App.
What should I do if I forget my Canvas username and/or password?
All students have Canvas accounts. Students who log into Canvas using their district device do not have to worry about a username and password because they will automatically be logged in using their Google credentials. If students do not know their Google username/password they may talk to their teacher(s).
Parents will email canvashelp@kcsdschools.net if they need to reset their password instead of clicking on the reset password link.
