  • It's October!

Posted by Deanna Goff on 10/10/2017

October means fall is here! It may not feel like it quite yet, but it is! We have so many great things happening this month! We have our Fall Fundraise, our zoo field trip, and Fall Celebration at the end of the month to name a few! Please be sure to watch the weather to dress you child appropriately. Also, be sure to talk to your child about behavior when they're on a 7 or below. If students have trouble behaving at school, they may not be allowed to travel to the zoo. Everyone is doing a great job so far! Let's keep it up! Our class is enjoying this year so much!

Posted by Deanna Goff on 9/5/2017

Hey families! I hope you had a nice Labor Day, and was able to enjoy some family time. This week, I will be using the Fountas and Pinnell Reading Assessment to find each child's just right reading level for independent reading, and for instruction. Read the book with your child that is sent home in his/her reading bag each day for practice. Have a super great week! Happy Reading!

Our first full week of school was a success! We learned about the Total Eclipse, numbers and number words, reading strategies, characters, and much much more. We finished last week by making a special Recipe for Success in First Grade! It was delicious! Can't wait to see my Busy Bees tomorrow morning!

  • First Day Jitters!

Posted by Mrs. Goff on 8/17/2017 7:00:00 AM

It's the first day of first grade for our Busy Bees! Today is going to be amazing! We will learn all about First Grade at Blaney. Today we will be able to drink "Jitter Juice" after reading one of my favorite books, First Day Jitters. The juice will help the butterflies fly our of our tummies as we learn first grade isn't scary at all. We will also read about Chester the raccoon who went to school for his first "night" missing his family. Ask your child about the secret of the Kissing Hand so you won't have to miss them all day while they're at school. This year is going to be the BEST YEAR YET!
