  • Join the Food for the Soul Challenge

    Food for the Soul

Join the challenge and make a difference as the elementary school students of Kershaw county "Set the Table" for the hungry and homeless in our communities.  Food for the Soul is a non-profit organization that provides a soup kitchen and homeless shelter in Kershaw County.  We would like to invite every child to become a sustainer of this vital community organization and service. "Set the Table" is a youth supported program that teaches our young people about real problems and needs that exist not only in our county but nationwide.  It is crucial that we teach our children and future generations to be proactive, empathetic, and caring.

Please consider taking adantage of this unique opportunity that not only teaches our children, but helps the less fortunate in Kershaw County.  Chaging even one life can make a difference.  $2.00 sets the table and $5.00 sets the table and provides the meal.  Even one dollar makes a difference.  How many tables can Jackson School set? Bring all donations to your homeroom teacher by Friday, November 22nd.

  • Watch D.O.G.S Program

    Jackson Families,

We are excited to announce that we are implementing the WATCH D.O.G.S. (Dads of Great Students) program.  WATCH D.O.G.S. is a family and community engagement educational initiative.  There are 2 primary goals:

    1. To provide positive male role models for the students, demonstrating by their presence that education is important.

    2. To provide extra sets of eyes and ears to enhance school security and reduce bullying.

The program is in full swing and we have some amazing men signed up to mentor our Jackson School Leaders! If you are a father, grandfather, uncle or neighbor of a Jackson student and are interested in volunteering a day of your time, please contact the office.

  • school delay Delayed Start Wednesdays:

Beginning August 21, 2019, KCSD will have their first delayed start for the 2019-2020 school year.

The Kershaw County School District (KCSD) is implementing a delayed start schedule on Wednesdays to provide additional professional development time for teachers without disrupting families’ schedules.

Bus routes, car rider lines and breakfast times will not be changed. Students can arrive at the normal start time or choose to come at the delayed start time, which will generally be 30 minutes later. Students who arrive on time will be supervised by adults and able to participate in learning activities.

Delayed start Wednesdays allow teachers to evaluate data and collaborate on lessons on a consistent schedule.  As we develop our Professional Learning Communities, this weekly time will allow us to be more effective in improving our students’ academic achievement.

Instruction will begin at 8:10 am and students will be tardy at 8:10 am on Delay Start Wednesdays.

  • New Box Tops for Education Information

    boxtop scan

Dear Families, The Box Tops for Education program is changing the way we can earn cash for our school! Over the summer, participating brands have begun to change their packaging from the traditional Box Tops clip to the new Box Tops label. Going forward, instead of clipping from packages and checking expiration dates, all Box Tops will be earned digitally by scanning your receipt. The Box Tops for Education team has worked hard to build a NEW-and-improved, user-friendly Box Tops mobile app, available now. The new app features state-of-the-art technology that allows you to scan your store receipt, find participating products and instantly add Box Tops to our school's earnings online. If you still have traditional Box Tops clips at home, make sure to send them to school. We will still earn cash for all clipped Box Tops until they expire. Better yet, you can “double dip” during the packaging transition by clipping traditional Box Tops AND scanning your store receipt containing participating products. Thanks for helping our school get what it needs! BE SURE TO DOWNLOAD THE NEW APP OR UPDATE YOUR EXISTING APP: LEARN MORE ABOUT THESE CHANGES AT NO MORE CLIPPING SCAN YOUR RECEIPT SEE HOW AT BTFE.COM SEE THIS... CLIP IT SEE THIS... • car riders Car Rider Drop-Off Instruction

This school year our car rider line in the morning will be a little different than years past.  Doors will open at 7:00 am each morning with school beginning at 7:30 am.  All car riders will enter the school building at the end of the 2nd & 3rd grade hallway closet to the k-2 playground.  Please pull all the way down to the last pole of the awning to let your child out of your car at this location.  Several teachers will be on duty to assist your student as they get out of their car.  Pre-K, Kindergarten and special education students will report directly to their classrooms in the morning.  All other students eating breakfast will report to the cafeteria, while those not eating breakfast will report to the multi-purpose room.  Thank you for your cooperation and we look forward to a great 2019-20 school year!
