New state requirements for the 2019-2020 school year - Any student checked out before 11:00 am on Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, Friday, or before 11:40 am on Wednesday will be considered absent due to the fact the student missed more than 1/2 of their instructional day.
Attendance Excuse Policy - Students are required by state regulations to attend 180 days of school. All half days, weather make-up days, field trips not attended, the days before a holiday and end of school all count toward the 180 days. Students should bring a medical excuse or parent note within 2 days of returning to school. If your student will be out for more than two consecutive days, please notify your student's homeroom teacher. Per our district policy a student is allowed a maximum of 10 parent written excuses for absences per year. After three consecutive unexcused absences, the student is considered truant. Truancy Intervention Plans will be implemented after the third consecutive unexcused absence. For further questions about attendance feel free to contact our Attendance Registrar at email@example.com or by calling the school at (803) 438-3241.
A Message from the PrincipalDear Blaney Families,
It is an honor and privilege for me to serve as your principal. Blaney is truly the heart of Elgin and we have the best kids in all of Kershaw County. We also have the very best parents around! This community is so kind and positive. Your love for Blaney is very evident. Student safety is my number one priority with instruction following very close behind! Thank you for trusting me with your precious children each and every day.
If you ever need me, please stop by the school or give me a call. Relationships are critical in all that we do in education. At Blaney, our goal is to love, empower and grow each child as they develop socially and academically.
