Dr. Kristy McIntyre

Hello Wateree Friends!

My name is Kristy McIntyre and I am a 5th grade teacher. I am a Pennsylvania native whose dream of moving south towards sunny skies and oceans came true in the summer of 2011!! (Yes, I am a fan of all things Pittsburgh including Steelers, Pirates and Penguins.)  I believe that EVERY student can learn and does so in their own style. It is imperative that the education of students include the various modalities in order to obtain success for all.

I obtained my Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Maryland, and my M.Ed. and also my principal leadership add on from Edinboro University of Pennsylvania.  Finally, I received final approval on my dissertation for my doctoral degree from Capella University in October of 2016.  The knowledge that one’s education is the only thing that cannot be taken from them encourages me to teach all I encounter to continue learning throughout their lives.  I believe in this wholeheartedly and feel that I learn as much or more from my students each day, as they from me.

I have spent the last 21 years working as a elementary teacher, child counselor, middle school math teacher and am currently serving as the district’s TIIS.  I am currently certified and highly qualified in early childhood education, elementary education, middle level mathematics, as well as principal K-12.  I have completed research in many areas within the education of students, however, my focus is now on methods of collaboration.  As I complete the publication of my book based on extensive research into the collaboration of teachers, I look forward to my next endeavor.

I am a technology learner, and while I am no expert, I am constantly searching for new ways to learn and apply a technological advance to my classroom and life.  Currently within my classroom we utilize many Google tools, online learning applications as well as a remind service for parent communication.  I believe that the home school connection is the glue that bonds the educational community together!

I am married to a disabled veteran and together we have 8 children, 7 daughters and 1 son aged 25 - 8.  It’s a crazy hectic life, but it is mine.  I am flexible in familial situations and understand what it is like to manage baseball, softball, track, dance, cheer and homework.  I look forward to a rewarding and challenging year and can’t wait to meet you alll!

Yours in Education,

Dr. McIntyre
