Three of the four Midlands regional teams—Lugoff-Elgin High, Camden High and Camden Middle—competing in Thursday’s state Quiz Bowl finals are from the Kershaw County School District (KCSD).
Sixteen schools will play “quiz bowl” or “Jeopardy” style matches to determine the State Champion of Academics for South Carolina. Thursday’s competition is being held in the Woolard Auditorium at the Applied Education Technology Campus (ATEC), 874 Vocational Lane, Camden.
The day will begin at 9:30 a.m. with eight semi-final matches where schools are matched by size (Division I and II) and level (middle and high).
Winners of these matches will then meet for their state championships:
KCSD Superintendent Frank Morgan will present trophies to the champions after the completion of each level. The middle school winners will be recognized at 12:15 p.m. and the high school champs at 2:45 p.m.
