TDAP Immunization is Mandatory. South Carolina immunization law requires all students entering 7th grade to be immunized with a pertussis (whooping cough) vaccine booster called Tdap after their 7th birthday. Plan ahead. If your child has already had this vaccine, now is the time to send a copy of their updated shot record. If your child has not had this important vaccine, please consider scheduling an appointment with their health care provider.
When KCSD students returned to school on January 3, they were greeted with new winter menus. We have added some new products including many that kids have asked for and sampled in our district throughout the year. These additions include grilled cheese and soup, the popular Prime Time chicken sandwich, turkey pot roast, breaded pork chops and fish sticks with mac and cheese. We are also excited for students to try our Fruit Pearls—a frozen fruity desert. In addition to these new hot menu items, we are changing up our fresh express. We have revamped our salads and added a chicken wrap and a fruit bowl selection.
Beginning February 1, we will introduce peanut butter cups with our fruit bowls district wide. (Beginning, February 1, we will introduce peanut butter cups with our fruit bowls in our fresh express menu.) These peanut butter cups are pre-packaged and sealed. We will continue to take precautions for our students who have peanut allergies. Students who have identified peanut allergies will be offered yogurt or cheese sticks in the place of the peanut butter cup with the fruit bowl meal.
If you have any questions about these changes, please contact your child’s cafeteria manager. We look forward to continuing to provide healthy and nutritious meals for your students in the new year!
