  • Car Rider Informationcar

Bullpup families we want to remind parents that our car pool lane is open from 7:00 AM to 7:30 AM every morning. Students arriving after 7:30 AM need to be signed in through the front office. For the safety of everyone, we ask that you not drop your child at the back door after 7:30 AM. At 7:30 AM, our teachers, safety patrol and administrators need to go inside to prepare for the day; therefore, we do not have supervision for students. At 7:30 AM we lock the doors to ensure our building is secure for the day. Please remember that on rainy days we see an increase in car pool traffic so you may want to come a little earlier than usual. You are welcome to come as early as 7:00 AM.  Afternoon carpool is open from 2:20 PM to 2:50 PM.  Thanks so much for your help and understanding!

    Dear Friends of PTH,

It was another great week of learning at growing at Pine Tree Hill!  I want thank everyone that came out to support our talent show last week. We had over 200 guests!  Way to go Bullpups!  I was very proud of the great talent that was showcased.

We had a short week so we could observe Martin Luther King Day.  We all know about Dr. King’s message, his accomplishments as well about as his assassination, but did you know that he was the only US Citizen who never held political office to have a national holiday named after him? That is a little known fact!

Winter has surely arrived in Camden!  Please let us know if you need assistance in getting winter coats, hats or gloves for your children.  Please call Nurse Baytes or Counselor Deas if you need assistance.  (803-425-8970) We go outside for recess until the temperatures reach 40 degrees.  We have inside recess if the temperatures are 39 degrees or lower.

This time of year we have lots of germs going around.  Please help us all stay healthy by taking a few things into consideration.  Teach your child(ren) to wash their hands frequently, cover their cough with their elbow area, use tissue when sneezing, and keeping their hands away from their faces, mouths and eyes.  Children with fevers should take a sick day from school.  A child must be fever free for 24 hours before returning to school.  I hope all our Bullpups have a sick-free winter season!

Please join us on January 28 at 6:00 pm for our family curriculum night.  We will be covering some great information about standards, rigor and how to help your child be academically successful!  Reading to and with your child is the single most important thing you can do to increase your child’s academics performance.  Please carve out 20 minutes an evening for reading!

As always, Mr. Bringer, Winnie and I are here to support you and your child(ren).  Please let us know how we may be of assistance!

    With Bullpup Pride,

    Mrs. Melissa Royalty, Principal

    Dear Friends of PTH,

We had another great week of learning and growing!  The Bullpups have been busy getting prepared for the Math Bowl competition that will begin next week.  They have also been logging their hours for the Reading With Cocky program we are sponsoring.  Both of these programs will assist your child in being a successful student!

I want to congratulate the Bullpup Quiz Bowl TEAM for their hard work in preparing for the 1st Annual Kershaw County Elementary Quiz Bowl.  Our students made me proud!  We have some really smart students!  Way to go, Bullpups!

I was amazed at the wonderful talent that was showcased at our talent show on Thursday night.

Most Americans set New Year Resolutions at the beginning of a new calendar year.  Please talk to your child and see what resolutions they have made to ensure they are learning.

    With Bullpup Pride,

    Melissa Royalty, Principal

    Dear Friends of PTH,

Happy New Year!  We hope that 2016 is full of wonderful experiences.  We had a wonderful week of learning and growing at PTH.  All teachers reviewed their learning and behavioral expectations so everyone can be successful for the remainder of this year!

We are finishing up MAP testing.  Students in grades 1-5 will complete winter MAP testing within the week.  We are busy analyzing the scores and assisting our students in creating new goals.  I encourage you to talk to your child about their new MAP goals; most importantly, I encourage you to ask your child to tell you three things they will do to make sure they meet their goals!

We will be hosting our second annual Math Bowl from January 19 to February 28.  Students are given a complex math problem.  They are given one week to solve it and explain their thinking.  A winner is selected for each grade level based on the correct solution and explaining of how they arrived to the answer.   The Math Bowl is a fun way to get our Bullpups excited about math!

Reading is FUNdamental to your child’s success!  We will be celebrating reading with Part 3 of the Read with the Gamecocks reading incentive. The incentive program  will begin on Jan. 8.  Each child records nightly from Jan. 8-21 the level-appropriate title that they read, then has a parent initial beside it.  Unlike the football one earlier in the year, ALL students who complete a reading log and turn it in WILL receive 2 tickets to both the Lady Gamecocks vs. Georgia on Feb. 18 and 2 tickets for the Men's game vs. Florida on Feb. 20.

Thank you for all you do to make Pine Tree Hill the best elementary school in SC!  Remember that Mr. Bringer, Winnie and I are always here to support the success of your child(ren).  Please let us know how we may be of assistance!

    With Bullpup Pride,

    Mrs. Royalty

    Dear Friends of PTH,

It was another great week of learning and growing at PTH! The elves, Bull and Pup, have reported to me (and Santa) that our students have been great this year. Bull and Pup will be on their way back to the North Pole on Saturday, but will be back again next year to report to Santa!

I want to thank Mrs. Lawson and the Bullpup Chorus for the wonderful chorus concert on Tuesday night. It takes a lot of hard work to get prepared for such an event. I appreciate the parents and neighbors that attended.

I want to thank all the Bullpups and Bullpup Families that supported our Barkey Holiday Shoppe. The Holiday Shoppe proceeds will help us purchase more 21st Century Furniture for our classrooms. Our transformation is magnificent! Please stop by to see it for yourself!

I want to ask for your help! Please make sure your Bullpup reads over the winter holiday! Set aside 20 minutes a day for your child to read to you, grandma, grandpa or older brother or sister. Reading daily is the best way to keep minds sharp!

As always, Winnie, Mr. Bringer and I are here to support you and your child. Please let us know how we may assist.

    With Bullpup Pride,

    Mrs. Royalty

    Dear Friends of PTH,

It was another wonderful week of learning and growing at PTH!  Thank you to everyone that has given, worked, or shopped at the Barkey Shoppe this week.  It never ceases to amaze me to see joy in the eyes of our Bullpups as they purchase holiday gifts for their parents, grandparents and siblings.  This is a magical time of year!

I’m sure you have heard about our two elves from the North Pole.  Bull and Pup are two elves sent to PTH to report to Santa on the behavior and work habits of our little Bullpups.

Our annual Holiday Family Fun Night was a huge success!  Thank you to everyone that worked to make Thursday night a special time for our families.  The sing-a-long was great fun and the activities were fabulous!  Our Bullpups especially enjoyed the visit from Santa Claus!  I appreciate all that attended.

As always, Winnie, Mr. Bringer and I are here to support your child and you.  Please let us know how we may be of assistance.

    Dear Friends of PTH,

It was another great productive week at Pine Tree Hill.  Mr. Bringer and I have been visiting classrooms to observe the teaching and learning, and we have been very impressed. I encourage you to ask your children to give you at least one "I can" statement daily. The neat thing about "I CAN" statements is that if they are used consistently, they can help students become more responsible for their learning and more reflective of their work.

The PTH PTO has been busy assisting our teachers in creating 21st Century learning environments. Our fabulous PTO has spent over $7000 to purchase stand up desks, sofas chairs and rugs so teachers can create environments that facilitate collaboration. Please stop by to see our transformation.

On December 10 we will host our annual Christmas Sing Along and Family Fun Night. Please join us from 6-7:30 for a wonderful family event.

For the next two weeks we will have the Barkey Holiday Shoppe open. The Barkey Shoppe is a place where students can purchase holiday gifts for their families. The Barkey Shoppe will be open during the Family Fun Night also.

As always, Mr. Bringer, Winnie, the staff of PTH, and I are here to assist you in meeting the needs of your children. Please let us know how we may help.

    With Bullpup Pride,

    Mrs. Royalty

    Dear Friends of PTH,

We have had another great week of learning and growing at PTH!  Thank you to all the parents, grandparents and friends that attended our awards ceremonies.  We appreciate you joining us in the celebration of our students’ accomplishments!

This week we celebrated Veterans of all the military branches.  Our students wore red, white and blue, and we had retired Veterans to speak with some of the classes about duty and honor.  Next week, on Tuesday, our 2nd graders will honor Veterans with a special performance. Our Kindergarteners will also honor our Veterans with a musical parade. Please come out and join us for one of the two performances.  The first performance will be at 1:00 PM and the second will be at 6:00 PM.

We celebrated Winnie’s first birthday on Wednesday!  Winnie enjoyed the attention our Bullpups gave her.  Thank you to everyone that gave her kisses and hugs!  She is one loved Bullpup!

I hope you were able to see PTH featured on WISTV this morning.  We are very excited to have been chosen as the midlands Cool School!  If you were unable to catch us live, please tune in to the WISTV.com website to see the Bullpups in action!

As always, Mr. Bringer, Winnie and I are here to support you and your child.  Please let us know how we may be of support to you.

    Dear Friends of PTH,

What a fun week we had at PTH! November is here already!  Many awards ceremonies were had, and many awards pins were given to our Bullpups- I am so proud of their accomplishments thus far!  Keep up the great work ,teachers and students.  Our school dance was a huge success! It was the best part of my week being able to watch the children enjoying an hour of dancing with their peers. Everyone had a great time, including our teachers! Special thanks to Mr. Self, Mrs. Beltz and the Beta Club and Student Council students who helped make it all happen.  We’re looking forward to remembering our Veterans this week, and will have our programs for that will be on Nov, 17- we hope you can join us. Thank you to our Veteran’s for your sacrifices you have made for our freedom. We salute you!  As always, Winnie, Mr. Bringer and I are here to support you and your child. Please let us know how we can be of assistance.

    Dear Friends of PTH,

We had another wonderful week of learning and growing at PTH!  We celebrated National Red Ribbon Week this week.  On Monday we signed our pledges.  On Tuesday we gave drugs the boot, on Wednesday it was “Hats Off to Staying Drug Free day,” on Thursday we wore our camouflage and on Friday we decorated our doors to show our free drug pride!  I want to thank everyone that participated in our Red Ribbon week activities, and a special thank  you to Mrs. Deas, our guidance counselor, for all her hard work in making sure everyone enjoyed National Red Ribbon Week.

We have officially finished the first 9 weeks of this school year.  Report cards were sent home today.  I suggest you make an appointment with your child’s teacher if you have questions as to their grades or attendance.  It takes home and school working together to ensure students are successful.

Thank you to everyone that attended the awards ceremonies this week.  We appreciate you taking time to join us in celebrating our students’ accomplishments.

As always, Winnie, Mr. Bringer and I are here to support you and your child.  Please let us know how we can be of assistance.

    Dear Friends of PTH,

We had another great week of learning and growing! We are always amazed at the wonderful activities the Bullpup Staff creates for our students. We saw some wonderful field trip pictures from the 1st grade trip to the planetarium and the Kindergarten trip to the zoo. Our students not only had fun but they learned so many wonderful things!

Thank you to everyone that made our family fun night a huge success! Special thanks to our fabulous PTO board that give 110% to our Bullpups! We had a wonderful family night of food, friends, movie, and fun! Don't worry if you missed this family fun night, we will have another in the spring.

Thank you to everyone that has given to our food bank for the elementary school in Columbia.  We are proud of the outpour of love from our Bullpup Families.

As you know, reading is essential to a productive life. Please help your child develop not only their reading skills but also healthy reading habits. Set aside 20 minutes a day to read with your child. Reading habits are developed through modeling and support. Reading with, and to, your child sets in motion a habit that will serve your child well for the rest of their life.

As always, Mr. Bringer,  Winnie and I are here to support our Bullpup families.  Please let us know what we can do to assist.

    With Bullpup Pride,
